Sundarbans Guided Journeys — Bengal Tours & Travels

Cinematic guided journeys into the world's largest mangrove delta — home to the Royal Bengal Tiger and a thousand quieter wonders.
Six ways into the delta.
Every itinerary is small-group, locally guided, and paced to let the wilderness reveal itself. Choose your rhythm — from a single tide to a full week.

Fifteen years of listening to the delta.
Bengal Tours & Travels began with a single wooden launch and a promise: to show the Sundarbans on the delta's own terms. Today we run a fleet of small, hand-built boats and a network of naturalists who grew up reading these rivers.
We don't chase animals. We wait for tides. We plant more mangroves than we cross. And we still measure a good trip by how long the silence lasts.
Meet the teamStories from every corner.
Small moments from the field — the tiger's silence, a Kanchenjunga dawn, a Baul under a banyan. Every journey we run leaves us with one.

The Tiger's Silence
Three tides, one shadow. In the mangroves we measure luck by pug-marks in soft mud — and by how long the boat can drift without breaking silence.

Golden on Kanchenjunga
At 4:12 a.m. on Tiger Hill, the third-highest peak on earth turns to molten brass. Nobody speaks. Everyone forgets the cold.

Grasslands & Rhino
Below the foothills, the grass grows taller than a man. A one-horned rhino moves through it like weather — slow, inevitable, ancient.

Under the Banyan
Class is held outdoors, under a tree Tagore planted. Somewhere in the distance, a Baul with an ektara turns philosophy into a song.

Shikara at First Light
On Dal Lake, the water is a copper mirror and the mountains look painted. The shikara-wallah rows without looking — he's done this every morning for forty years.

Backwater Drift
A kettuvallam threads the coconut groves. Dinner is fish curry served on a banana leaf, and the night sky is thick with cicadas.

A Night in the Thar
The camels kneel; the fire crackles. Somebody sings a Manganiyar folk song older than the fort behind us. Above, a sky you can taste.

Turquoise at 14,000 ft
Pangong Tso changes colour by the minute. The air is thin, the light is loud, and for a moment nothing else on earth is quite this blue.
From those who drifted with us.
"The most quietly magical trip I've ever taken. Our guide read the tide like a poem."
"We saw a tiger on the third morning. But honestly, the villages stayed with me longer."
"Handcrafted from first email to final sunset. Bengal Tours are the real deal."

The delta is waiting.
Tell us your dates and dreams. We'll draft a journey the same day.
